Did you know that if you struggle to communicate with the Department for Work and Pensions in relation to any of your state benefits you are entitled to request reasonable adjustments? This could be in the form of email correspondence instead of letters, large print content if the standard letters are not clear enough or you would like your correspondence to be in a format that is readable by your accessibility software.
We have had sight of the recently updated DWP Reasonable Adjustments guidance which permits Claimants to make a request for reasonable adjustments in accordance with this policy in which a dedicated team deal with such requests. The application process is really simple and we have provided a template letter below which you can download to use should you wish to make a request.
Many people with Autism find it very difficult to wait on hold on the telephone for sometimes hours which can cause distress and unnecessary anxiety. We hope that this information proves useful and we would love to hear how it goes with your request.
